I’ve used quite a bit of Martina Bex’s Somos curriculum in my middle school Spanish classes. After learning the target structure una mujer vieja (an old woman), vive (s/he lives) and llevó (s/he took) in units 15-17, we read an adapted news article about Dutch university students that live rent-free in a nursing home in exchange for spending at least 30 hours/month of quality time with residents.
